Workshop East is part of a network of skilled makers and designers across London and nationally, including the open workshop network. We aim to look beyond the workshop and engage continuously with the wider creative environment so that we can best support our tenant community. Many in our team are involved in teaching and research, contributing to oingoing debate on education, training and the creative industries.
Co-Making Spaces Report:
In 2014/15 Workshop East undertook key research into London's co-making workshops and makerspaces, commissioned by the LLDC and GLA. The report was compiled with architecture practice ehk! and Rhianon Morgan-Hatch. Detailed space plans and interviews provide a unique insight into how organisations are using shared resources in order to foster successful enterprises, build communities and develop skills. The full report can be seen here.
